There’s one thing I believe, which is the fact that everyone you meet in life has something to offer. You could be relevant in one area and be totally clueless in the other. Your area of relevance is where you’re valuable. And Value is what people will pay you for. People will only give you money for the value you carry, for the solutions you can offer. The question is always, how to make money from that value you have to offer.
Monetizing value isn’t easy. It requires that you learn how to market, sell yourself, and find ways to connect human needs. Whether you intend to work in a job or own a business makes no difference. You are the CEO of your life, so you need to know how to connect your passions with serving other people.
The bridge from passion to money-maker can’t be made hastily. Interests often get discarded because they cannot be immediately relayed into a source of income. Thats where patience and consistency comes in. Patience is a necessary ingredient in evolving a passion. But even more, you need to be open to other possibilities.
I will discuss with you here Seven practical steps to turn you passion into profit.
1. Work for Free
When you’ve identified your passion, start by giving your services for free. By the time you do it for while, you get to assess yourself and your skill and know what you’re worth. Then you can start giving your services for a fee.
2. Determine your ideal clientsDetermine the exact set of people that would be needing your services, (age grade, profession, etc). Draw out a strategy for reaching out to these set of people. A strategy to sell your self to them.
3. Make connections
No man can stand alone. No tree can make a forest. A man is a sum up of his connections. Make effotts to Meet people and establish connections with people in the same field as you and other fields as well.
4. Do it for a cheap Amount
Start off small. Start by charging cheap for your services. Let people see you as a fool. With time you keep adding little until you can stand your ground and place your bill. If your service is invaluable, clients will pay any amount. Remember, people will only give you money for the value you carry.
5. Find a Mentor
Follow a Pro. Having a mentor is very essential for progress and success. A mentor will guide you through, and show you places where he made mistakes and you can avoid making same mistakes.
However, when following someone, copy strategy only. The rest should be yours. Be unique.
6. Start today, not tomorrow.
Do not procastinate. At the end of time you will only regret the steps you never took. Make a step today.
7. Never give up. Never quit. If you can’t get in through the door, get in through the window. Be relentless.
